This region that hosts the appellation Bourgogne Côtes d'Auxerre was once one of the most productive areas of France mainly due to the ease by which the wines could be transported to Paris along the river Yonne. The development of the trains helped end the dominance and the wines of the Côtes d'Auxerre became forgotten by many outside the area around Saint Bris and Irancy. However the family Goisot maintained the belief in the quality of their wines and with hard work and devotion the Domaine now produces fabulous wines that are as good as any in Bourgogne. This Pinot Noir is beautiful. It sends shards of colour out of the glass. The expressive aromas of red fruit and the fresh flavours of cherries and liquorice stick coupled with the gentle tannins make this wine wonderfully enjoyable.
