This wine is categorised as a « wine of pleasure » by its creator Jean-Luc Lapeyre. What does that mean? It is very fruity and light to be shared around at any time of the day but it does not go well with Corn Flakes. The key to this red, made from 90% Merlot and 10% Syrah is the vinification. The grapes are crushed at a low temperature over four days and then the fermentation is done as a white wine. The majority of the vines are planted on the south facing slopes ideal positioning for the sunshine, therefore the grapes are full of juice. I think this wine is light enough and with the raspberry and plum flavours and little amount of tannins, gently chilled this is a lovely aperitif.
