This wine comes from an area around Montréal-du-Gers 15 minutes from Eauze and Condom, right in the heart of Armagnac Country. Here the men are men and normally the reds are powerful tannic brutes, like a prop forward in a rugby scrum. This merlot is different, made by a man as Gascogne as d'Artagnan, this wine is fresh and fruity and moderately tannic, despite nine month in new barrels. The fact is that this carefully produced, nothing clumsy, using modern technology (there has been an enormous amount of investment but again done carefully) and getting best from it this fella has really come up with delicious plumy wine perfect for an evening in the summer with something flavoursome
