The fruit for this wine is grown on south-south east facing slopes around the villages of Sinio and Serralunga d'Alba at an altitude of around 350 metres. The wine is 100% Dolcetto, a variety grown throughout the Piedmont region  but arguably at its best in this corner and very rarely found elsewhere. Dolcetto (the little sweet one in local dialect) has low acidity but thick skins so with careful fermentation the resulting wine is fresh and fruity with no compromise on the delightful violet and ruby colour. This wine has perfect balance and poise. The fruit flavours are backed up with a hint of liquorice and almond. Get a bottle of this and a generous plate of salamis and cured hams and enjoy the combination of flavours as an appetiser for your main meal.
