This is an elegant wine which demonstrates the best of Chilean winemaking. In this vintage there is 15% Carménère from the Cholchagua Valley which allows the winemaker to add some complexity to the palate. They have a certain freedom to adjust the blend, similar to many appellations in France, but can still call their wine by the predominant varietal, keeping it simple. The aromas are certainly intense, plumy and a touch of spice but is on the tongue that the true nature of this wine becomes apparent. The tannins are super soft and the fruit has a ripe quality the combines with a warm spiciness. This is an ideal wine to accompany a Spanish or North African meal.
